En este Mes de la Herencia Hispana 2024, destacamos la labor de una magnífica organización creada por una familia latina, para el beneficio de la comunidad, en particular de las jóvenes deportistas latinas en Estados Unidos: ELLA Sports Foundation.Aunque el nombre de la fundación está en inglés, para los que hablamos español, la palabra ELLA ya de entrada nos transmite poder para las mujeres. ELLA es un acrónimo de su nombre, Empowering Leadership in Latina Athletes, frase que se traduce a Empoderando el liderazgo en las atletas latinas.De eso se trata ELLA: buscar la igualdad de condiciones y oportunidades para las latinas, a través del deporte y la excelencia académica.ELLA Sports Foundation la fundaron en el 2020 la jugadora de softball, Lilly Travieso, y su madre Patty Godoy-Travieso, con el apoyo de su padre Manolo ‘Manny’ Travieso.Lilly había descubierto los grandes obstáculos que enfrentan las atletas latinas cultural y económicamente al navegar el costoso sistema del llamado ‘travel ball’ y para lograr ser reclutadas para jugar un deporte en la universidad.“Comprender las disparidades en mi comunidad, crecer jugando softball y creciendo practicando deportes realmente me inspiró a crear ELLA con mi madre. Y sé que todo mi recorrido deportivo fue un asunto familiar. Hizo falta un equipo, especialmente conseguir que me reclutaran. Así que le debo todo a mis padres. Pero también me ayudaron a fundar esta increíble organización que ayuda a nivelar el campo de juego para crear oportunidades para las jóvenes atletas latinas”, confió Lilly a ESPN.La tercera base, con 77 crown mucho sacrificio y con la ayuda de sus padres, vería cumplirse su sueño de ir a jugar softball de División I en la Universidad de Cornell, gracias a una beca que le otorgaron. Lilly y Patty decidieron que querían servir de guías para otras jóvenes que enfrentan el mismo tipo de impedimentos en su camino.La misión de ELLA es bastante ambiciosa. With efforts in training and competition, the Da Nang U20 men’s basketball team were crown champion at the 5×5 U20 National Basketball Championship which just ended in Thua Thien Hue Province. Photo courtesy of the Viet Nam Basketball Federation.The 5×5 U20 National Basketball Championship is the final youth-level tournament in 2024 under the competition system of the Viet Nam Basketball Federation.This year’s tournament saw the participation of 9 U20 men’s teams: Ba Ria – Vung Tau 1, Ba Ria – Vung Tau 2, Dien Bien Warriors, Ha Noi, Thua Thien Hue, PEAK Air Defence – Air Force, Quang Ngai PB, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang. The teams were divided into two groups, with the top two from each group advancing to the semi-finals and finals.According to athlete Truong Van Dai from Da Nang’s U20 men team, during the competition, the team encountered many difficulties and challenges. Theo Kết luận Thanh tra, dự án Trung tâm Đức mẹ Núi Cúi là công trình tôn giáo quy mô lớn, có tầm ảnh hưởng rộng, và nhận được nhiều sự quan tâm của giáo dân trong và ngoài tỉnh. UBND tỉnh Đồng Nai ban hành quyết định giao 13,627ha đất tại xã Gia Tân 1, huyện Thống Nhất cho Trung tâm Đức mẹ Núi Cúi sử dụng vào mục đích đất cơ sở tôn giáo theo hình thức Nhà nước giao đất không thu tiền sử dụng đất với thời hạn sử dụng đất lâu dài là đúng quy định tại các Điều 52, 54, 59 Luật Đất đai 2013; công tác quản lý trật tự xây dựng được UBND tỉnh Đồng Nai chỉ đạo các đơn vị thực hiện kiểm tra, giám sát định kỳ. Tuy nhiên, bên cạnh đó vẫn còn những thiếu sót, vi phạm.Cụ thể, việc lựa chọn vị trí đất để UBND tỉnh Đồng Nai giao 13,627ha xây dựng Trung tâm Đức mẹ Núi Cúi theo đề nghị của Tòa giám mục Xuân Lộc là chưa đúng quy định.Khi được UBND tỉnh Đồng Nai giao 4,43ha đất vào năm 2015 (giai đoạn 1), Tòa giám mục Xuân Lộc không có ý kiến gì về vị trí đất được giao, nhưng sau đó lại tiến hành xây dựng các công trình phục vụ “Lễ đặt đá” ngoài diện tích 4,43ha. Kết quả thanh tra cho thấy cơ quan quản lý nhà nước các cấp (xã, huyện, tỉnh) đã chưa thực hiện thủ tục pháp lý cần thiết để ngăn chặn kịp thời hành vi vi phạm về đất đai, xây dựng của Tòa giám mục Xuân Lộc.Ngoài ra, dự án Trung tâm Đức mẹ Núi Cúi triển khai xây dựng một số hạng mục công trình phục vụ “Lễ đặt đá”, khi chưa được cấp Giấy phép xây dựng là vi phạm Luật Xây dựng năm 2014.
